Variable-stiffness modular robots for physical interaction
The article studies redundant pneumatic modules whose position and stiffness can be adjusted separately. Limited actuator forces and variable stiffness are considered as design measures for physical human–robot interaction. The abstract reports initial prototype experiments, without establishing injury limits or conformity of a complete collaborative application.
