Determine the required Performance Level

Record why a safety function needs its target level.

Reviewed 2026-11-04 · Engineering interpretation · authoring reviewed

Independently authored engineering commentary. Specialist technical review and native-language translation review remain open.

Trace the decision

This original review workflow begins with a named hazard and safety function. Identify the applicable robot-specific requirements and risk-assessment method, then record the target and its reasoning. Document the task, severity, exposure and opportunity to avoid harm where the selected method uses those factors. Do not assign one target solely from the presence of a robot.

Keep the target separate from the result

PLr is the required target in this project’s terminology. Keep it in a field separate from achieved PL, with a source locator and reviewer. A missing application assessment remains an evidence gap in all three worked cases. Exact normative clause pointers await a qualified review of the licensed standards.
